Govt to carry out probe of Backward Region Grant Fund anomalies

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government would start a departmental probe into BRGF anomalies to find out the extent of financial bungling before it hands over the case to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). The Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) is a scheme of the central government started in 2008-09 in Uttar Pradesh. The Mayawati government undertook projects worth Rs 1,900 crore under BRGF in the state.
